Michael Mader (born January 2, 1974 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian conductor .

biography

Michael Mader studied conducting with Robert Filzwieser in Klagenfurt and at the Tyrolean State Conservatory with Edgar Seipenbusch . He also attended master classes in Weimar with George Alexander Albrecht , in Trier with Christian Kluttig , in Vienna with Salvador Mas i Conde and in Tanglewood (USA) with Seiji Ozawa . From 1994 to 2002 he was choirmaster of the mixed choir Allerheiligen / Innsbruck. As a conductor and co-founder of the Kammerphilharmonie Tyrol, he ran his own subscription cycle in Innsbruck from 1999 to 2008. He has performed in concerts with various ensembles in and around Innsbruck as well as in Vienna , Klagenfurt, Freiburg im Breisgau and Košice (Slovakia).

Michael Mader was engaged as Kapellmeister , deputy director of studies and prompter at the Tyrolean State Theater from 2000 to 2010 . In May 2010 he was the musical director of the world premiere of Lulu, the musical with the music by Stephan Kanyar and the text by Brigitte Fassbaender at the Tiroler Landestheater. He also accompanied Judith Keller in their Piaf - Chanson -Abenden at home and abroad as a pianist.

Since the 2010/11 season he has been engaged as maestro suggeritore at the Bavarian State Opera . At the festival premiere of Pelléas et Mélisande at the end of June 2015, Mader was Constantinos Carydis' musical assistant . In July 2015 Michael Mader conducted a concert by the Munich International Orchestra. He was the orchestra's conductor until 2017. At the concert in February 2016, among others, Les Préludes by Franz Liszt , Ruralia Hungarica by Ernst von Dohnányi and the 3rd piano concerto by Béla Bartók with Gerold Huber as a soloist were performed in Munich. In September and October 2016 he took over the musical direction of the operetta Orpheus in der Unterwelt at the Musiktheater Vorarlberg. In autumn 2018 he was Kirill Petrenko's musical assistant in the new production Otello at the Bavarian State Opera with Anja Harteros , Jonas Kaufmann and Gerald Finley in the lead roles.
