Michail Krausnick

Michail Krausnick (born November 30, 1943 in Berlin ; † May 12, 2019 in Neckargemünd ) was a German writer as well as radio play and screenwriter . He lived as a freelance author in Neckargemünd.

education and profession

Krausnick grew up in Hanover and came to Heidelberg in 1962 . There he studied literature and sociology and received his doctorate in 1973 with the dissertation Paul Heyse and the Münchner Dichterkreis for Dr. phil. During his studies he was co-founder and copywriter of the student cabaret Die Kneifzange as well as chairman of the radio group at Heidelberg University . In 1966 he completed a traineeship at Süddeutscher Rundfunk (SDR) , today Südwestrundfunk (SWR) . This was followed by editorial work at SDR-Studio Heidelberg and internship at the Badische Fernsehredaktion Mannheim . During this time he wrote essays , satires , poems and radio plays for various broadcasters.

As a screenwriter, Krausnick has worked on over 120 TV productions. In 1976 he wrote his screenplay for the feature film Grandison , which is set in Heidelberg and, like many of Krausnick's later projects, takes up historical themes from the region. In addition, he published more than 30 books and wrote plays for the big stages in North Baden, cabaret texts for Die Stachelbären , Deutscher Michel , the Düsseldorfer Kom (m) ödchen as well as solo programs for Thomas Freitag .

Krausnick became known for his satires, radio plays, historical non-fiction books, biographies as well as poems and stories for children and young people. Most of the attention was given to his book Die eiserne Lerche , a biography of the poet of the March Revolution , Georg Herwegh ; for this he received the German Youth Literature Prize in 1991 . In 2018 he was the first recipient of the Heidelberg Authors Prize.
