Mikhail Nikolayevich Scharochin ( Russian Михаил Николаевич Шарохин ; born November 11, jul. / 23. November  1898 greg. In Ivanovskoe, government Yaroslavl , Russian Empire ; †  19th September 1974 in Moscow , Russian Soviet republic , Soviet Union ) was a Soviet-Russian Colonel General and Hero of the Soviet Union .

Life

Mikhail Nikolajewitsch Sharochin was born in the village of Ivanovskoye in the Yaroslavl Governorate (now in Danilov Raion in the Yaroslavl Oblast ). In February 1917 he was drafted into the Imperial Russian Army and took part in the First World War as a soldier . In November 1917, Sharokhin joined the Red Army and took part in the Russian Civil War as a soldier . In 1920 he joined the RKP (B), which later became the CPSU . In 1939 he graduated from the military academy of the General Staff of the Red Workers 'and Peasants' Army .

During the Great Patriotic War , General Sharochin commanded the 3rd Army on the Kalinin Front from February 1942 , the 37th Army on the Steppe Front from August 1943 (including Operation Jassy-Kishinev ) and from October 1944 the 57th Army on the 3rd Ukrainian Front Front (including the Apatin-Kaposvarer Operation , Vienna Operation and Lake Balaton Offensive ).

On April 28, 1945, Mikhail Sharochin was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for the skillful organization of battles, the clear management of army troops in promoting the rivers Dnepr , Southern Bug , Dniester and Danube and the courage he showed in the process.

After the war, he remained in the army and retired from active service in 1960. He was married to Vera Michajlowna Sharochina, b. Zukanova (1906-1979). Sharochin died in 1974 and was buried in the Novodevichy Cemetery in Moscow.
