Mickaël Zidro Tavares (born October 25, 1982 in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges ) is a football player of French , Senegalese and Cape Verdean nationality. He is the son of former Senegalese international Tony Tavares.

Club career

Tavares began his career with US Créteil . In 2000 he moved to the Portuguese club FC Alverca . After two years he returned to France and was signed by SC Abbeville . There he stayed one season and spent the next two years at FC Nantes , where he was only used in the B team. In 2005 the midfielder went to FC Tours and rose to Ligue 2 with this one year later .

In July 2007 it was first tested by Slavia Prague and after a week in the Czech capital signed a two-year contract with an option for another year.

In January 2009 Tavares moved to Hamburger SV . There he could not assert himself and initially belonged to the B team under coach Bruno Labbadia , after he had been regularly used by coach Martin Jol the previous season . On January 24, 2010, Tavares was awarded to 1. FC Nürnberg until the end of the season. Although Tavares was able to strengthen the defensive of the FCN, he was rarely used towards the end of the season in favor of a more offensive line-up. After eleven games and one goal for Nuremberg, Tavares played no role in coach Dieter Hecking's plans at the end of the season . So he returns to Hamburger SV for the 2010/11 season. Because he shouldn't play a role in Armin Veh's squad planning , he was loaned to Middlesbrough FC for one season . After his return, Tavares should leave the club. Since he could not find a new club in the transfer period in the summer of 2011, Tavares trained with the second team of HSV until his contract expired on June 30, 2012.

At the beginning of October 2012, Fulham FC signed Tavares. He signed a contract until the end of the year. There he met coach Martin Jol , under whom he had played at HSV. During his time in London he was only used in the U-21.

In mid-March 2013 Tavares completed a trial training session at the second division club FC Energie Cottbus , but then signed a contract with RKC Waalwijk in August .

After half a year with FK Mladá Boleslav , Tavares was signed by Sydney FC in January 2015 .

National team career

In a friendly against Luxembourg in June 2008 Tavares was appointed to the national team of Cape Verde , but was not used.

In May 2009 Tony Tavares announced that his son had decided to play for the Senegalese national team in the future.

Others

His cousins Jacques Faty and Ricardo Faty are also professional footballers.
