Bishop Miguel Raspanti SDB

Miguel Raspanti SDB (born May 31, 1904 in Córdoba , † February 18, 1991 in Córdoba) was an Argentine religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Morón .

Life

Raspanti was born into a large family of Italian origin. At the age of nine the family moved to Ituzaingó , Buenos Aires . In 1919 he entered the novitiate of the Salesians of Don Bosco in Bernal , Province of Buenos Aires.

On July 8, 1928 he received in Turin the ordination by Giuseppe Cardinal Gamba . In the religious community he had various tasks, before his appointment as bishop he was Provincial of the Province of San Francisco de Sales of Buenos Aires.

On March 13, 1957, he was appointed the first bishop of the newly established diocese of Morón . On May 12th of the same year the Archbishop of La Plata , Antonio José Plaza , donated him episcopal ordination in the Basilica of Our Lady of the Assistance in Buenos Aires. Co -consecrators were Archbishop Roberto José Tavella of Salta and Bishop José Borgatti of Viedma . Raspanti's motto was: Caritas Christi urget nos. On June 30, 1957, the inauguration took place in Morón.

Miguel Raspanti took part in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father .

On January 22nd, 1980, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation . He was succeeded by Bishop Justo Oscar Laguna . Raspanti retired to the Salesian College in Ramos Mejía .

After his death he was buried in the cathedral basilica Inmaculada Concepción del Buen Viaje by Morón.

The Instituto Monseñor Miguel Raspanti in Haedo was named after him.
