Robert M. "Mike" Duncan (* 1951 in Oneida , Tennessee ) is an American politician . From 2007 to 2009 he was chairman of the Republican National Committee , the party organization of the Republicans .

Duncan graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1974 . He then worked as the chairman of a state university, a private college , various corporate groups and non-profit organizations . From July 2002 Duncan was the chief legal advisor ( General Counsel ) of the Republican National Committee, on January 19, 2007 he became its chairman. Two years later he ran again for this office, but left after the third ballot. Michael Steele was elected to succeed him.

Mike Duncan is married and has one son.
