Mikuru Suzuki ( Japanese 鈴木 未来 Suzuki Mikuru * February 5, 1982 in Kagawa Prefecture ) is a Japanese dart player and the current BDO world champion .

Career

Suzuki's professional career as a steel darts player began in 2016 with the British Darts Organization . A year later, she took part in the World Masters in September, and thus for the first time in a major tournament. There she reached the quarterfinals after a 4-2 win over Lisa Ashton , in which she had to admit defeat to Corrine Hammond .

Via the International Qualifier, Suzuki achieved participation in the BDO World Darts Championship 2019 . When she made her World Cup debut, Suzuki immediately won her first world title by knocking Lisa Ashton out of the tournament in the first round on the way there . In the final, a victory in 3-0 sets over Lorraine Winstanley brought her the title. In 2019 she also achieved her first participation in the BDO World Trophy . There she reached the quarterfinals after a 4-3 victory over Fallon Sherrock , in which she lost to Aileen de Graaf . In October she secured the world title at the World Darts Federation in singles and doubles. As BDO world champion, Suzuki qualified for her association for the Grand Slam of Darts 2019 , where she was eliminated in the group stage after three defeats against Gerwyn Price , Dimitri Van den Bergh and Robert Thornton . In the same month, however, she qualified again for a PDC event. She won the Rest of the World Women's Qualifier for the PDC World Darts Championship 2020 . There she played on December 15th against the Englishman James Richardson , against whom she missed the sensation of the first woman with a game won at the PDC World Championship and only had to admit defeat 2: 3 sets in the last last leg decider. Fallon Sherrock finally succeeded in doing this two days later . 2020 began for her with successfully defending her world title by defeating Lisa Ashton 3-0 in sets in the final.
