Mini Beiz, dini Beiz was a docu-soap running from 2014 to 2019 on SRF 1 , which ran as a competition with test meals between five regular guests from different restaurants. The format was roughly based on the German counterpart Mein Lokal, dein Lokal , which is broadcast on kabel eins . “Beiz” means colloquially as much as “pub” in Switzerland. Nevertheless, everyone was allowed to participate in the program, from star restaurants to simple village restaurants and from traditional to innovative cuisine. In November 2018, SRF announced that the format would be discontinued at the beginning of 2019 after around 800 restaurants portrayed. On Saturday, January 5, 2019, a celebrity special formed the definitive end of the series. The program Mini Schwiiz, dini Schwiiz was announced as the successor format .

concept

Five regular guests meet on one day of the week in a fellow competitor's favorite restaurant. Its job is to convince its competitors that its restaurant is the best. The regular guest creates a perfect menu together with a restaurant representative. As a rule, an aperitif, a starter and a main course or a dessert as an alternative to the starter are served.

In the course of the broadcast, the viewer receives a comprehensive insight into the restaurant business. In addition to what is happening in the guest rooms, the preparation of the menus in the kitchen is also recorded. You can also learn more about the relationship between regulars and restaurants and what makes the restaurant so special for them. Every evening is rated by the regular guests in the categories ambience, food and price-performance ratio with 0 to 10 points each. At the end of the week, the restaurant with the most points wins an award and, together with the regular guest, 1,000 Swiss francs.

The competition usually takes place every week in a new canton or region. The aim of the program is to bring the viewer closer to the culinary possibilities of the respective area.

Special

In addition to the regular program blocks, SRF regularly shows special issues of the program:

  • On May 30, 2015, a celebrity special of the show was broadcast for the first time. Unlike usual, the special edition was presented to viewers as a two-hour Saturday evening program. • SRF showed the second celebrity special on January 16, 2016. Participants were the presenter Mélanie Freymond from western Switzerland , the ski racer Didier Cuche , the comedian Sven Furrer and the singer Michael von der Heide .
  • In the third celebrity special, which was broadcast on September 17, 2016, the comedian Stéphanie Berger , the former ski racer Sonja Nef , the musician Ritschi and the presenter Christa Rigozzi competed against each other. Stéphanie Berger represented TV chef René Schudel’s restaurant Benacus on the show .
