Gameplay

In the game you control a platypus , which starts in your house at the beginning and shortly thereafter arrives at a beach, where it finds a sword that has been cursed . The consequence of this is that the character automatically dies after 60 seconds and is reset to its last occupied dwelling (starting point), giving the game mechanics a kind of time loop .

The player himself has to fulfill different tasks in the game world, talk to non-player characters , explore the world, defeat opponents, find objects and solve puzzles in order to progress further. Items that you have once got into your possession are retained.

The world itself is in black and white and a 2D graphic .

The controls are kept simple and the atmosphere is described by the standard as charming and entertaining, which is supported by a suitable soundtrack . Opinions on the time loop mechanics are mixed. On the one hand, the 60-second game mechanics are felt to be innovative and motivating, as you can always discover something new and the time pressure creates a certain stimulus, similar to a speed run . On the other hand, this can also be perceived as annoying, since in some places you would like to be faster or have more time and frustration arises due to the repetitions. 4Players thinks the game is stressful, but also entertaining and personable.

Due to the game mechanics and the time loops -Thematik the game with old is The-Legend-of-Zelda -Titeln and comparable Retro -Rollenspielen as Half-Minute Hero and film classics like Groundhog Day compared.

The game was largely positively received by the press. The PC version gets a Metascore of 79. The game has received 93% positive user reviews on Steam .
