Mircea Alexandru Bornescu (born May 3, 1980 in Bucharest ) is a Romanian football player . The goalkeeper has been under contract with FC Voluntari since summer 2015 .
Career
Mircea Bornescu's career began in 1999 at Juventus Colentina Bucharest in Divizia B (now Liga II ). There he became a regular goalkeeper in his first season. After a year he left the club and joined the league rivals Apulum Alba Iulia . After two years he moved to FC Extensiv Craiova , which also played in Divizia B. Here, too, Bornescu was a regular player, but not only stood out for preventing goals, but also as a goal scorer. In the 2004/05 season he came on six hits.
In the summer of 2005 Bornescu moved within the league to the team from Universitatea Craiova, who had just been relegated from Divizia A (now League 1 ) . He played the majority of the games and in this way helped to return to the House of Lords in his first season. Bornescu was able to secure the league three times with Uni Craiova. In the summer of 2009 he left the club and signed with league rivals Rapid Bucharest . In the 2010/11 season he was able to qualify with his club for the Europa League . In the summer of 2011 he left the club for AO Kavala in Greece . After his new club was denied admission to the Super League , he returned to Romania, where he initially joined the promoted Petrolul Ploieşti , but during the winter break, league competitor Universitatea Cluj joined. In the summer of 2012 he returned to Ploieşti and won his first title with the 2013 cup . In the 2013/14 season he was only number two between the posts behind Peçanha .
In summer 2014 he returned to Rapid Bucharest. There was initially number one in goal, but was replaced by Virgil Drăghia on matchday nine . Bornescu regained his regular place on matchday 13. After Miloš Buchta was signed during the winter break , Bornescu only played once in the second half of the 2014/15 season and could not prevent his club from relegating. As a result, he was without a club for half a year before first division club FC Voluntari signed him in early 2016. There he initially acted as deputy to Nicolae Calancea , replaced him towards the end of the season and secured himself with his team in the relegation class . He started the 2016/17 season as a regular, but then had to give way to Dragoș Balauru . He returned to the team in December 2016. After the winter break, he had to sit down on the bench again.
National team
Bornescu has not yet played an international match for the Romanian national soccer team , but was part of the extended squad. Most recently, he was in the squad of coach Victor Pițurcă for two friendlies in August 2012 , but did not get a chance.
