Carol Morris and Ingrid Goude

The competition for the fifth Miss Universe with 30 participants took place on July 20, 1956 at Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach in the US state of California instead. 19-year-old Carol Morris was the second American representative (fashionably styled as " Miss USA ") to win the competition. As is customary at the event, she was crowned by her immediate predecessor, Swede Hillevi Rombin.
