Candidates
37 young women took part in the 1927 competition, one less than in the previous year. There were significantly more foreign ones, namely eight. Restrictions on their qualifications have been introduced: a selection in their hometown, conducted by a newspaper, theater or municipal body.
The candidates had to be unmarried and 16 to 25 years old. They were not allowed to have a professional connection to the stage, a film studio or a similar trade. The competition was open to women from all cities in the world except Galveston.
