action

Frank Reiher and his co-driver Tiller from the SMH are called to the apartment of Ms. Haus, who was found unconscious. Your ambulance is followed by a small car that a man gets out of. The residents believe it is a doctor, but the disguised Jimmy Klöppel is actually a burglar. While Frank and Tiller take care of the wife's home, Jimmy searches the apartment unnoticed and finally escapes with numerous valuables. An attentive neighbor cannot stop him. Captain Peter Fuchs is entrusted with the investigation. Jimmy lost a notebook in Ms. House's apartment. Frank's most recent emergency calls are recorded in it and his telephone number is also noted. Frank, on the other hand, is called into his allotment garden by a neighbor who has seen a strange man come out of Frank's arbor. Peter Fuchs is also waiting for Frank in the arbor to question him. The arbor is filled with stolen goods, the origin of which Frank cannot explain. Nor does he know how his name got into a burglar's notebook. The suspicion that he might have something to do with the thefts weighs on his marriage to Anja, as Frank had taken advantage of customers in a previous job and therefore voluntarily resigned. Anja would not forgive him for another crime. The stolen goods are picked up by the investigators. A little later, Frank is still cutting his wrists in the gazebo. He is quickly found and taken to the hospital. Here he expresses in front of Peter Fuchs that everything is a plot against him. They want to separate him and his wife.

Peter Fuchs asks colleagues about Frank. He gets along well with everyone and is even loved by Vera, even if she knows that her love will not be returned. Nobody trusts him to be robbed. Another case comes in the middle of the investigation. A hypnotist goes around robbing old ladies of their savings. The man has no luck with Mrs. Saupe, because she herself comes from the vaudeville and artistry milieu: she resists his hypnosis and puts the man to flight. She not only gives the investigators a description of the perpetrator, but also the indication that the man must have learned from hypnotist Marcanti, since he uses the same technique. Marcanti, whom the investigators visit, only had one assistant who is also currently living with him: It is François Bormann alias Belcanti. He gets by with small engagements and is currently with a wealthy family, where he is holding a séance . While the guests sit around the round table and look for contact with the afterlife, Jimmy secretly searches the house for valuables. When he tries to flee, the investigators are already there and arrest him, having found evidence of his next job with the family in Bormann's room. Bormann managed to escape, but a little later he was arrested at the train station. Bormann and Jimmy had once been imprisoned in the same cell. Frank's suspicions can also be confirmed: Vera had once started a relationship with Frank, but Frank refused to leave his wife. Jimmy, on the other hand, was briefly acquainted with Frank and Anja because he worked for them as a repairman. Vera got Jimmy to set up his break-ins in a way that would draw suspicion on Frank - her revenge for his behavior.
