Mittelfeld is a district of Hanover and belongs to the 8th district of Döhren-Wülfel .

Location and history

Midfield is on the southern outskirts. It is bounded by the railway line to Göttingen and the Karlsruher Straße in the west, the Garkenburgstraße and the Seelhorst forest area in the north, the streets Schwarze Worth, Schlehengarten and Laatzener Straße, Cousteaustraße and Kronsberg in the east as well as Kronsbergstraße, Messeschnellweg and Wülferoder Straße in the south. The city of Laatzen also borders to the south .

The district emerged in the 1950s as a settlement for displaced persons . To the east of the Messeschnellweg is the Hanover-Seelhorst settlement that was built in the 1930s . To the north of this is the Annastift's vocational training center , on the site of which a willow church was built.

8,975 people (2019) of all age groups with middle to lower incomes live in the middle field. Around 45.2% have a migration background; after German, the most common languages ​​are Turkish and Arabic (around 6% each), followed by Polish and English (around 4% each). Many are EU foreigners or foreign students in the numerous student residences on the Expo site. Unemployment is around 9% and has therefore fallen sharply.
