Mladen Rubčić

Mladen Markus Wenzel Paul Rubčić (born October 19, 1926 in Sarajevo ; † September 11, 1994 in Hohenroth (Driedorf) ) was a German architect and university professor .

Life

Mladen Rubčić was born in Sarajevo and attended grammar school there. From 1948 to 1951 he first studied art history at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Zagreb . During the Tito time he fled to Italy. There he was arrested in Venice and interned in a camp near Naples . Recognized as a political refugee, he began studying architecture at the University of Naples Federico II . A scholarship took him to the Technical University of Madrid for four semesters . On the basis of another scholarship, he came to RWTH Aachen University , where he was able to complete his studies with a diploma in 1957. From 1957 to 1959 he worked as an employee in the architectural office of Hans Schwippert in Düsseldorf . At the same time, he held a teaching position with Anton Wendling , chair of freehand drawing and watercolor painting at RWTH Aachen University. From 1959 he ran his own architecture office. In 1972 Mladen Rubčić was appointed professor of architecture and design at the Faculty of Architecture at Cologne University of Applied Sciences . In 1992 he stopped teaching.

In 1955 he married Waltrud (née Bick), with whom he had two daughters.

  • 1981/82: Restoration and conversion of the "old school with prayer room" in Hohenroth (Driedorf)

He also won u. a. numerous architectural competitions in collaboration with Ernst Kasper , For example: building competition for the Bergisch Gladbach school center (1968), building competition for elementary and special school in Cologne-Flittard (1969), building competition for the Hennef community (1970) or the two-tier elementary school with gym and teaching pool in Söven-Rott (1970).
