Mogale City ( English Mogale City Local Municipality ) is a local municipality in the West Rand district of South Africa in the Gauteng province . The municipality's administrative center is in Krugersdorp . Since the UNESCO World Heritage Site Cradle of Humankind ( English Cradle of Humankind ) is located within the municipality, is also called Mogale City of Human Origin ( "the human city of origin" for English). The mayor is Francis Makgatho.
The community is named after Mogale , a 19th century king of the Batswana .
geography
Mogale City is located in the west of the district and meets there with the provincial Northwest . Merafong City and Randfontein lie south of the municipality and Johannesburg and Tshwane to the east .
The rivers Magalies , Rietspruit , Krokodil and Mooirivierloop flow through Mogale City . There is also a reservoir in the municipality, the Lancaster Dam .

In 2011 the community had 362,422 inhabitants. Of these, 75.6% were black, 21% white, 2.2% Indian or Asian and 0.8% colored .
31% of the first language was Setswana , 16.8% Afrikaans, 11% isiZulu , 9.5% English, 8.5% isiXhosa , 5.5% Sesotho , 4.3% Xitsonga , 3, 9% Sepedi , 2.3% Tshivenda , 1.6% isiNdebele , 0.5% Siswati and 2.5% another language.
