Mohammad Nassiri Seresht (born October 1, 1945 in Tehran ; Persian محمد نصیری سرشت) is a former Iranian weightlifter and Olympic champion.

Career

Mohammad Nassiri first attracted attention in 1964 when he became the Iranian master in. From then on, the Polish coach Klemens Roguski, who was then working in Iran, took care of him. In 1965 he took part in a world championship for the first time and took 4th place in bantamweight (56 kg) in Tehran. A good start into an impressive career that should follow and make him multiple world champion and Olympic champion . He delivered his masterpiece at the Summer Olympics in Mexico City in 1968, when he was 10 kg behind the Hungarian Imre Földi after snapping and caught up with a new world record of 150 kg in jerking.

In 1976, Mohammad Nassiri retired after winning the bronze medal at the Montreal Summer Olympics.

The exceptional Iranian athlete won gold, silver and bronze medals at the Summer Olympics, and five gold, one silver and three bronze medals at world championships. At the continental level, he won silver once and four other gold medals. Mohammad Nassiri set a total of 18 world records during his successful career. In 1995 he was inducted into the IMF Hall of Fame.
