"Chuck" Vinci (born February 28, 1933 in Cleveland / Ohio ; † June 13, 2018 ) was an American weightlifter

Career

Charles Vinci was the son of Italian immigrants to the United States . He grew up in Cleveland and engaged in bodybuilding and weight lifting as a teenager . When he showed a good disposition in weightlifting in regional competitions, he was brought to the York Barbell Club by the mentor of the American weightlifting, Bob Hofmann, and generously supported because the American weightlifting team, which at the time made the weightlifters the Soviet Union was fighting for supremacy in the world, good weightlifters needed in the light weight classes. "Chuck" Vinci, who was only five feet tall, fully justified this trust, as he began a great weightlifting career in 1955 , which culminated in winning two Olympic gold medals .
