Long Qingquan ( Chinese龙 清泉, Lóng Qīngquán; born December 3, 1990 in Longshan , Hunan ) is a Chinese weightlifter .

Athletic career

Long became the Chinese National Champion in 2008. In August 2008, he first took part in the Olympic Games in Beijing . There the until then internationally unknown athlete won the gold medal in the class up to 56 kilograms. With his performance of 292 kg in snatching and pushing, he set a new junior world record.

At the 2009 Chinese National Championships, Long achieved 302 kg in a duel, 10 kg more than a year ago in Beijing. After snatching 133 kg, he managed to push 169 kg, 1 kg more than Halil Mutlu's official world record . Long is currently (as of November 2009) preparing for the 2012 Olympic Games in London and plans to officially improve the world record, since according to the World Association, records can only be set at world, continental championships or the Olympic Games. At the World Championships in Goyang he achieved 292 kg in a duel and won gold in front of his compatriot Wu Jingbiao and the Cuban Sergio Álvarez Boulet . After 130 kg in the snatch, he was still able to bring in a valid 162 kg in the push. In his last attempt, however, he failed because of the world record load of 169 kg he had planned. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , he won the gold medal with a new world record in a duel of 307 kg (137 kg in snatch and 170 kg in push).
