At the 2012 Olympic Games in London, he was considered the bantamweight favorite. He reached in London in a duel but only 289 kg (133-156) and surprisingly had to admit defeat to the North Korean Om Yun-chol , who achieved 293 kg (125-168) in a duel. He won the silver medal behind Om.

2013 Wu Jingbiao finished in the Chinese championship with 284 kg (134-150) only the 4th place and was not used in any international championships this year.
