Montrose ( Scottish Gaelic : Monadh Rois ) in Angus is a small port town on the east coast of Scotland .

Montrose Tower

Due to the old name of the place, a Norwegian settlement in the area of ​​the present-day harbor has been concluded as the origin. The name Montrose probably comes from Mouth Hrossay , a place at the mouth of the River Esk near Rossie Island . The place was mentioned for the first time under David I (1080-1153). The landmark of the place is the 67 m high tower of the Andreaskirche Old and St Andrew's Church , which was built in 1834 by James Gillespie Graham .
