Moosbachaue

The Moosbachaue nature reserve is located in the municipality of Fichtelberg in the Bayreuth district in Upper Franconia .
The 11.7 ha area with the number NSG-00279.01, which was placed under nature protection in 1986 , extends south of the core town of Fichtelberg along the Moosbach , a right tributary of the Fichtelnaab . This flows east.
The nature reserve is a wetland with the only fossil pingo , a hollow terrain that was created during the Ice Age , in northern Bavaria .
