The Teufelsloch nature reserve is located in the Bayreuth district in Upper Franconia .

The 7.6 hectare area with the number NSG-00035.01, which was placed under nature protection in 1941 , extends north of the core town of Oberwaiz , a district of the municipality of Eckersdorf . The deeply cut Teufelslochgraben, a right tributary of the Dühlbach , runs through the area .

The nature reserve is a near-natural meadow valley with ecologically significant peripheral areas, wetland complexes and a largely natural course of water .
