Morbach is a district of the Niederkirchen community in the Otterbach-Otterberg association in the Kaiserslautern district in Rhineland-Palatinate .

Morbach is located in the North Palatinate Uplands in the west of the municipality and is predominantly surrounded by agricultural land. The moor stream has its source in the village . The hamlet also rises south of the village .
history
From 1798 to 1814, when the Palatinate was part of the French Republic (until 1804) and then part of the Napoleonic Empire , Morbach was incorporated into the canton of Otterberg and was under the mayor's office of Kaulbach . From 1818 to 1862 the place - then notation Moorbach - was part of the Land Commissioner Kaiserslautern , which was then converted into a district office.
In 1928 Morbach had 337 residents who lived in 70 residential buildings. The Protestants belonged to the parish of Niederkirchen, the Catholics to that of Reipoltskirchen . In 1938 the place was incorporated into the district of Kaiserslautern . After the Second World War , Morbach became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate within the French occupation zone . In the course of the first Rhineland-Palatinate administrative reform, Morbach was incorporated into Niederkirchen on June 7, 1969, within which it has since formed a local district.

The head of the village is Natascha Martin (SPD). In the direct election on May 26, 2019, she was elected with 74.14% of the vote. Her predecessor was Gerhard Geib (FWG).
Infrastructure
The place is on the district road 31 , which connects it with Kreimbach-Kaulbach and Schallodenbach . The Morbach sports club exists on site . There used to be a Protestant school in the village.
