Mount Olive is a small town in the southwest of the US state of Illinois and is located on the well-known Route 66 , about 65 km northeast of St. Louis . About 2150 people live in Mount Olive.

In Mount Olive is the Union Miners Cemetery , where the miners killed in the Virden massacre and the unionist Mary Harris “Mother” Jones are buried.

The cemetery is just south of Route 66 . The Soulsby service station is the oldest is located still operating gas station on historic Route in Illinois. The cemetery and gas station are on the National Register of Historic Places .
