Construction of the first four ships began with the first steel cut on July 17, 2013. The ships were delivered between January 2015 and February 2016.

Instead of another four ships of the Multi Role 61m ERRV type, four Multi Role 62m ERRV ships were ordered on April 9, 2014. The ships were designed by the marine architecture firm Focal Marine & Offshore in Singapore and are referred to here as "Focal 531". These ships were built at the Chinese shipyard Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry (Dalian) Co. Construction began with the first steel cut on October 18, 2014.

The ships were part of a £ 110 million investment program by Sentinel Marine. The ships were u. a. with funding from Clydesdale Bank and NORD / LB for £ 28m.

The ships are two twelve-cylinder - diesel engines from manufacturer Caterpillar : powered, via reduction gears on two (Type 3512C-HD) pitch propellers with Kort nozzle act. Both drive trains can work independently of each other and thus offer the ships a redundant drive. The ships are equipped with a retractable propeller gondola in the bow area and a cross-thruster control system in the bow and stern. The ships have a system for dynamic positioning .

Three diesel generator sets and two shaft generators are available for power generation. The engines drive Leroy-Somer generators. An emergency generator was also installed.

The superstructures are in the front half of the ships. An open working deck is located behind the superstructure. Two spills and two winches are installed on deck . A hydraulically operated crane is available as a lifting tool, which is attached behind the superstructure.

The ships have a total of five decks. The deck layout of the two types is slightly different. Below the main deck are u. a. the engine room and the engine control room . In the front area of the ship there is a room with 75 seats. On the main deck there is the open working deck as well as a hospital, a rest and relaxation room with 26 beds as well as showers and toilets. Also included here are fair , galley and various storage rooms housed. The Multi Role 61m ERRV ships have a lounge next to the exhibition center. Accommodation for the ship's crew is set up on the two decks above the main deck . In other rooms are u. a. a changing room for the crew members, a fitness room and storage and operating rooms. On the ships of the Multi Role 61m ERRV type, a laundry is also housed here, which is on the main deck of the Multi Role 62m ERRV ships. These ships also have a sauna here. Which is located on the top deck bridge .

There are areas in front of the navigating bridge and on the working deck that are intended for the transfer of people or material by helicopter . The back of the ships is covered and the crew on arrival-and-place and anchor maneuvers provides weather protection.

In the midship area there are rescue zones on both sides of the ships. Nets can be attached here so that people can climb on board in the water. The ships are also equipped with a rescue net for people floating in the water, a rescue cage for six people and a line throwing device.

The ships are equipped with two dinghies , one of which is a fast rescue boat that z. B. is required for rescue operations. The dinghies are hung in davits , with the help of which they can be lowered into the water and picked up again. It is possible to bring another rescue boat with you, which can be lowered into the water with the crane and picked up again.

The ships can also be used to combat water pollution. The ships of the Multi Role 62m ERRV type are equipped to fight oil spills, the Multi Role 61m ERRV ships can be equipped accordingly if required.
