The municipality of Las Carreras is a district in the Chuquisaca department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The municipality of Las Carreras is one of three municipalities in the Sud Cinti province and includes its southwestern area. It is bordered by the Potosí Department to the west and south, the Tarija Department to the east , and the Municipio Villa Abecia to the north .

The municipality extends between about 21 ° 04 'and 21 ° 30' south latitude and 65 ° 12 'and 65 ° 28' west longitude, its expansion from west to east is up to 30 kilometers, from north to south up to 50 kilometers .

The municipality comprises 56 municipalities ( localidades ), the central place of the municipality is the town of Las Carreras with 765 inhabitants ( 2012 census ) in the very eastern part of the district.
