al-Murgub , Arabic المرقب, DMG al-Murqub , is a municipality located in the northwest of the Libyan Arab Republic , in the historical region of Tripolitania . The capital of al-Murgub is the city of al-Chums .

In the north the municipality borders on the Mediterranean Sea, in the countryside it borders on the following municipalities:
- Misrata Municipality - Southeast
- Munizip al-Jabal al-Gharbi - southwest
- Tripoli Municipality - West
Administrative history
In the course of the Libyan administrative reform in 2007, the neighboring municipality of Tarhuna wa-Msallata was incorporated. Until then, 328,292 people (as of 2003) lived in what was then the area of al-Murgub, covering an area of 3,000 km².
