Darna , Arabic درنة, DMG Darna , is a municipality in northeast Libya . It is located in the historical region of Cyrenaica . The capital is the city of the same name Darna .

In the north, the municipality of Darna has a coastline to the Mediterranean . In the country it borders:
- in the east to the municipality of al-Butnan
- in the west to the municipality of al-Jabal al-Achdar
- in the south to the Munizip al-Wahat
history
Until 2007, the municipality consisted essentially of the city of Darna and its surrounding area, before it was merged with the municipality of al-Quba to form the new municipality of Darna. In 2003 the smaller municipality comprised 81,174 people and 4,908 km². In the north, the former municipality bordered the Mediterranean Sea, on the land side it bordered the municipalities al-Quba and al-Butnan in the southeast.
