Municipal territory 2000-2007

In 2003, 636,992 people lived in the entire Benghazi area. The municipality at that time only covered an area of ​​800 km², thus essentially corresponding to the city of Benghazi, and bordered only on the municipality of al-Hizam al-Achdar apart from the Mediterranean Sea .
