al-Wahat , Arabic الواحات, DMG al-Wāḥāt , is a municipality located in the northeast of the Libyan Arab Republic .

geography

Major cities of the enlarged municipality are Adschdabiya , El Agheila , Sultan near the coast and Al Labbah and the Jalu oasis in the interior. Adjacent municipalities are currently: al-Butnan (in the east), al-Kufra (in the south), al-Jufra (in the southwest), the Munizip Surt (in the west), the new Munizip Banghazi (in the northwest), the Munizipien al- Marj and al-Jabal al-Achdar (in the north) and the new municipality of Darna (in the northeast). The municipality also has a piece of the state border with Egypt .

history

During the last territorial reform, the former Munizip al Wahat was considerably enlarged by integrating the Munizip Ajdabiya and parts of the Munizip al-Kufra. Since then, the main place for the enlarged municipality has been Ajdabiya.
