al-Hizam al-Achdar , Arabic الحزام الأخضر, DMG al-Ḥizām al-Aḫḍar , is a former municipality that was located in the northeast of the Libyan Arab Republic . The capital of the municipality was the city of el Abiar . In 2007 the municipality was incorporated into the new municipality of Benghazi .

In the entire area of al-Hizam al-Achdar, 108,860 people (as of 2003) lived on an area of 12,800 km². In the north the municipality bordered the Mediterranean Sea, in the countryside it bordered the following former municipalities:
- Benghazi - northwest
- Munizip al-Marj - east
- Munizip al-Wahat - Southeast
- Ajdabiya - southwest
