The 2340.3 hectare protected area includes parts of the Murrhardter and Welzheimer forest and lies between Murrhardt in the north, alluvial forest in the west and Althütte in the south in the area of ​​the city of Murrhardt and the communities of Althütte, Auenwald, Kaisersbach and Rudersberg .

The landscape protection area belongs to the natural areas 107- Schurwald and Welzheimer Wald and 108- Swabian-Franconian forest mountains within the main unit 10- Swabian Keuper-Lias-Land and to the natural area 123- Neckar basin within the main unit 12- Neckar- and Tauber-Gäuplatten .

Protection purpose
