Muyupampa (also: Villa Vaca Guzmán or Villa Vittorio Guzmán ) is a country town in the Chuquisaca department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

location

Muyupampa is the seat of the administration of the province Luis Calvo and the central place of the Municipio Municipio Villa Vaca Guzmán . The city is located at an altitude of 1189  m on the Río Ñancahuazú , a left tributary of the Río Parapetí . Muyupampa and is bordered to the east by the Serranía del Incahuasi and to the west by the Serranía del Iñao .

Muyupampa is nestled on the western edge of the Bolivian lowlands between north-south running Voranden mountain ranges on the eastern edge of the Bolivian Cordillera Central . The climate is subtropical , the six-month wet season extends from November to April and the dry season from May to October.

The annual average temperature is a good 20 ° C, with 16 ° C from June to July and over 23 ° C from November to January (see Muyupampa climate diagram). Muyupampa lies at a distance of 366 kilometers by road southeast of the departmental capital Sucre .

The city is located on the 976 kilometer long national road Ruta 6 , which connects Sucre with the Bolivian lowlands. The road in the Muyupampa area between Monteagudo in the west and Lagunillas in the east is or is currently being paved (as of 2020).

Muyupampa is connected to the national air transport network through an unpaved taxiway, which has the abbreviation " SLYP " in the ICAO code .

history

In 1967 the name Muyupampa went through the world press when an attack by the guerrilla group around Che Guevara on the village failed in April . At the same time, the then 26-year-old French scientist Régis Debray and two companions were arrested near the small town and later sentenced to thirty years in prison on charges of high treason .
