Myriam of M (2015)

Myriam von M (born May 13, 1977 in Hofheim am Taunus as Myriam Dalef-Fuss ) is a German - American cancer activist , tattoo model , singer and author .

She has been fighting against HPV- associated cancer since she was 25 and therefore founded the Fuck Cancer campaign in January 2014 , in which she campaigns for the HPV vaccination and more information on the subject, among other things .

Life

Soon after her birth, her parents moved to the California Merced County , USA . After her US father's suicide in 1980, Myriam grew up with her German mother and her new partner. In 1992, after her parents separated, she moved back to Germany with her mother and younger brother. From 1996 she worked as a trained hairdresser .

In 2002, Myriam was diagnosed with invasive squamous cell carcinoma of the vulva ( vulvar cancer ) caused by HPV . A long period of hospital stays, operations, chemotherapy and radiation followed. In 2003 she resumed her professional activity and opened her own salon until she could no longer work for health reasons.

In 2006 the cancer reappeared in the form of cervical cancer (cervical cancer). This was followed by three operations and the removal of the cervix in 2008 . Over the next two years, she was operated on again and underwent chemotherapy and radiation. She has been working as a psychological consultant ( VFP ) since 2011 .

Myriam von M is a tattoo model and singer in the band PsychoDoll, which she co-founded in 2011 .

Private

Myriam von M is married for the third time and has two sons from previous marriages.

Fuck Cancer

In 2014 Myriam started her cancer prevention and awareness campaign, in which she advises and actively supports people suffering from cancer. In support of the campaign, the non-profit association Heldinnen gegen Krebs, based in Rüsselsheim, was co-founded by Myriam and Eric Steiner , of which she is chairwoman.

Myriam's campaign is funded by donations and cooperation partners . In addition, one of the cooperation partners runs the Fuck Cancer Shop in order to specifically support the campaign. In order to ensure long-term financing and activity, Fuck Cancer gGmbH , based in Darmstadt, was co-founded by Myriam, of which she is the managing director.

In 2016 the campaign was exclusively supported by the ImPose donation gala in the Carl Benz Arena , Stuttgart. Fuck Cancer and Myriam's activities are now receiving regular coverage in the German media.

Awards

myAid Award 2015

In April 2015, Myriam von M was awarded the MyAid Award 2015 in the international category for her work and commitment to date at the Vienna Spring Ball Dancer against Cancer , an annual charity event for the benefit of the Austrian Cancer Aid in the Vienna Hofburg . Prize winners included a. already Fran Drescher , Konstanze Kuchenmeister , Charles Shaughnessy , Sophie van der Stap and Kelly LeBrock .
