Nagarkot ( Newari नगरकोत) is a place and a former Village Development Committee in Nepal in the Bhaktapur District , about 32 kilometers east of Kathmandu and 14 kilometers northeast of the city of Bhaktapur .

Nagarkot was merged with several VDCs to form the city of Mahamanjushree-Nagarkot at the end of 2014 . Nagarkot is located on the ridge on the east side of the Kathmandu valley at an altitude of 2195 meters. The place is a popular destination for locals and tourists and has some restaurants, snack bars and lodges. There is a regular bus route to nearby Bhaktapur. The real attraction is not the place itself, but the fantastic view of the mountain range of the Langtang Himal from Annapurna to the Everest massif with the peaks of Langtang Lirung I ( 7226  m ) and Gangchempo ( 6387  m ). With good visibility you can even see Shishapangma ( 8027  m ). The best view is in the early morning and late afternoon when the mist from Kathmandu does not cloud the view. Otherwise, of course, you need a little luck that no clouds obscure your view.

At the 2011 census Nagarkot had 4571 inhabitants (2198 male) in 973 households.
