Naiade (ship, 1936)

The Najade was a German station wagon that was used by the Navy as a net layper during World War II and sank in the Sea of ​​Marmara after the war, again in peaceful use in 1961 .

Construction and technical data

The ship was on 11 November 1936, the hull number 463 at the Neptun shipyard of Deschimag in Rostock from the stack , was completed on March 19, 1937, was from the March 24, 1937 Steamship Company "Neptune" in Bremen put into service. After the demining service was terminated at the end of December 1947, the ship was briefly used in the Royal Navy, but was then assigned to Belgium as reparation payment . It was delivered to Belgium on May 11, 1948 in Kiel and then assigned to the Société Commerciale Antoine Vloeberghs from Antwerp to operate. After being dismantled as a cargo ship, they put the ship into service on October 30, 1948 under the new name Irene-Marie and bought it in 1952.
