The season of Namibia Premier League 2019/20 will last from November 2019 to May 2020. The defending champion is record champions Black Africa . First of all, the season should start in September 2019.

The transfer window for the new season opened on July 24, 2019 and lasted until September 27, 2019.

League disputes

The FIFA normalization committee of the Namibia Football Association had decided that there should be no promotions or relegations from the 2018/19 season. On the other hand, the league administration deleted the two relegated Civics and Orlando Pirates from the new season and also rejected the Young Africans team, which was suspended in the previous season. At the end of September 2019, it was initially agreed that the teams that had actually been relegated would participate. A solution should be found in mediation through the participation of the Young Africans . In early October 2019, the NFA suspended the NPL for failing to comply with this decision, with support from FIFA. The players' union Nafpu also sided with the NFA in mid-November 2019 and spoke out in favor of the NPL accepting the decision and starting the season at the end of February 2020.

As of January 2020, the future of the league is questionable after MTC Namibia, as the main sponsor, announced an end to the cooperation after the season. At the end of January 2020, the NPL announced that from March the league in tournament format, with 13 clubs, i.e. H. without Civics, Orlando Pirates and Young African. A lawsuit by the NPL against the NFA was dismissed by the Supreme Court in mid-February 2020.
