Natalja Lwowna Tschlenowa ( Russian Наталья Львовна Членова ; born October 15, 1936 in Moscow ; † October 16, 2009 ) was a Russian prehistoric woman .

Life

Tschlenowa's father Lev Grigoryevich Tschlenow (1894-1959) was a military doctor in the Red Army and then a neuropathologist during the Russian Civil War . The mother Olga Petrovna née Popowa (1902–1985) was laboratory manager in Moscow Hospital No. 60. Tschlenowa's maternal uncle was the anthropologist Georgi Franzewitsch Debez . The geologist and paleontologist Valerian Innokentjewitsch Gromow also belonged to the family .

Tschlenowa began in 1948 to study at the Faculty of History of the Lomonosov University Moscow (MGU), which she graduated in 1953. This was followed by an apprenticeship at the Institute of Archeology of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR . From 1949 to 1980 she worked on archaeological expeditions in the Volga region , the North Caucasus , Siberia and the Far East .

From 1960 Tschlenowa worked in the Institute of Archeology. In 1961 she led an expedition in Khakassia , in which Dawid Lazarewitsch Brodyansky worked. Tschlenowas work focused on the chronology of the cultures of the Bronze Age and the early Iron Age , the burial mounds in minusinsk hollow and Nasarower pool in the south of the Krasnoyarsk region , problems of prehistoric art that Scytho -sibirischen animal representations, the Indo - Iranian art influences, the mutual influence of Cultures of Central Asia and the Scythian world and the deer stones as historical sources.
