The National Bank Financial Group Montreal Open 2009 took place for the first time from February 16-21, 2009 in Montreal , Canada . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2008/09 and belonged to Category 2 Star . It was endowed with $ 21,050.

Tournament winner was Alister Walker , who defeated Shahier Razik 11: 9, 6:11, 11: 9 and 11: 5 in the final . It was Walker's third title on the PSA World Tour and his first in nearly four years.

The field of participants in the men's competition consisted of 16 players, four of which were reserved for qualifiers. The eight best players were seeded. Per Wildcard got Michael Reid a starting spot in the main draw.
