Winner of the National Board of Review award for Best Young Actress ( Breakthrough Performance - Female ).

The film critics association succeeded in presenting an Oscar winner three times in advance , most recently in 2006, with the award of the award to the American Jennifer Hudson ( Dreamgirls ), who later received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role .
