description

Here there is an intact floodplain landscape with backwaters and regular flooding as well as a large number of wet biotopes that have been created by subsidence .

Around 60 breeding and up to 50 guest bird species as well as rare dragonflies and amphibians live in the entire nature reserve . To preserve the biodiversity, ponds are desludged and expanded, meadows are mowed and riparian trees are planted.

Part of the nature reserve is spanned by the Theodor-Heuss-Brücke with the A44 .
