The Lenneaue Berchum nature reserve with an area of ​​9.78  ha is located in the area of ​​the independent city of Hagen in North Rhine-Westphalia . The nature reserve (NSG) was designated in 1994 with the landscape plan of the city of Hagen by the city council of Hagen. It is located in the Berchum district . Industrial buildings are adjacent to the north and south. In the north is the road L 674 and in the west the dike of the floodplain of the Lenne . There is a viewing hut on the bike and hiking trail in the NSG.

Area description

The NSG comprises an oxbow lake of the Lenne and the surrounding area with a meadow orchard, grassland and alder forest. In the NSG species come harvest mouse , dormouse , dormice , Noctule , Tree Pipit , Little Owl , Whitethroat , grasshopper warbler , marsh warbler , reed bunting , coot , moorhen , palmate newt and water frog before. There are plant species such as black head rush, columbine , common chamomile, colored hollow tooth, frog bite, water swaths , water star, frog spoon, reed grass, swamp rush, meadowsweet, real valerian and swamp rush.

Protection purpose

The NSG was designated as a nature reserve for the preservation and restoration of communities or habitats of certain wild plant and wild animal species as well as for the preservation and development of nationally significant biotopes of rare and endangered as well as typical wild plant and animal species of European importance .
