The nature reserve of the former Harkortsee marina with an area of ​​7.23  hectares is located in the area of ​​the independent city of Hagen in North Rhine-Westphalia . The nature reserve (NSG) was designated in 1994 with the landscape plan of the city of Hagen by the city council of Hagen. It is located in the vestibule district . The border of the NSG runs partly in the Harkortsee . Otherwise mostly agricultural areas are adjacent. The NSG is surrounded by the Harkortsee nature reserve.

Area description

The NSG comprises two former, interconnected harbor basins with areas of 4,000 and 11,500 square meters , which are connected to the Harkortsee and the adjacent agriculturally used areas. The harbor basins are surrounded by a thick line of trees made up of individual willows and bushes. The open basins have floating leaf vegetation such as pond rose and marsh water star. The adjacent reed beds and wooded areas are breeding grounds for water birds, shrubs and ground-nesting birds such as Marsh Warbler , Reed Bunting , grebes and common moorhen .

Protection purpose

The NSG was designated as a nature reserve for the preservation and restoration of communities or habitats of certain wild plant and wild animal species as well as for the preservation and development of nationally significant biotopes of rare and endangered as well as typical wild plant and animal species of European importance .

Prohibitions and requirements in the NSG

In the NSG, fishing is permitted from April 1st to June 30th; guest anglers and competition fishing are also prohibited . The practice of hunting in the months of April, May, June and July as well as the practice of hunting in the form of hunts or hunts is also prohibited. A number of special requirements have been issued for the NSG . One of the bids is the construction of an observation platform on the Harkortsee and one at the former marina, as well as the construction of a path between the observation platforms with a connection to the riverside hiking trail. In order to make the demarcation of the NSG visible in the lake, the landscape plan includes the requirement to create a chain of buoys in the lake.
