The nature reserve Oberes Wannebachtal is located in the area of the independent city of Hagen in North Rhine-Westphalia . The nature reserve is located in the Berchum district of Hagen, east of Stüpperberg, along the Wannebach . Parts of the middle and lower reaches of the Wannebach are in the nature reserve Unteres Wannebachtal . The protected area comprises the valley area of the Wannebach with the course of the stream accompanied by alders and willows, wet meadows and wet pastures as well as the surrounding deciduous forest areas. Numerous tributaries and source corridors connect upstream.

The 18.6197 hectare area has been designated as a nature reserve since 1992 under the identification HA-014 because of the special nature and the outstanding beauty of the upper reaches of the Wannebach . The protection objective is the preservation and restoration of communities or habitats of certain wild plant and animal species in the valley area of the Wannebach and the preservation and promotion of the wet grassland, which is dependent on extensive use, as well as the vegetation that accompanies the banks and which loves moisture with their characteristic plant and animal species.
