The Upper Sprockhöveler Bachtal nature reserve is located in the area of ​​the city of Sprockhövel in the Ennepe-Ruhr district in North Rhine-Westphalia . The nature reserve lies along the Sprockhövel brook southeast of the core town of Sprockhövel.

The 15.8080 ha area, which consists of two individual areas, has been designated as a nature reserve since 1995 under the identification EN-017 because of the rarity, special character and outstanding beauty of the Bachtal and for scientific and natural history reasons . The protection goal is the preservation of communities and habitats of wild, partly endangered plant and animal species , and the restoration of a near-natural stream valley with extensive forms of use .
