The Wannebachtal nature reserve is a 8.4 hectare nature reserve (NSG) northwest of Stübbeken in the city of Iserlohn in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . The area was designated in 1997 by the district council of the Märkischer Kreis with the landscape plan No. 4 Iserlohn .
Area description
The NSG is the Wannebach valley with its source and deciduous forest. The nature reserve extends to the city limits of Hagen . In the urban area of Hagen there are two more nature reserves on the Wannebach: the Upper Wannebachtal nature reserve and the Lower Wannebachtal nature reserve .
Protection purpose
The nature reserve was designated for the preservation and development of the Wannebach Valley with its spring and deciduous forest and as a habitat for endangered animal and plant species. As with other nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area became a nature reserve “because of its scenic beauty and uniqueness”.
