Community merger
In the referendum on February 24, 2008, the planned merger of the three municipalities Vernamiège , Nax and Mase only narrowly failed . Nax and Mase said yes, but Vernamiège rejected the project with 67 to 61 votes. Another referendum took place on September 7, 2008, in which all three municipalities accepted the project. The new municipality of Mont-Noble was created on January 1st, 2011.
Economy and tourism
The local economy is shaped by agriculture. To develop a modest tourism and on private initiative a swing golf course was built.
A chair lift leads to the Dzorniva middle station below Mont Nobles . From there, two chairlifts built in 2012 and a ski lift on the west side of the mountain open up a small ski area with 30 km of marked ski slopes.
