Nazarin (Original Title: Nazarín ) is a Mexican film directed by Luis Buñuel in 1958, which was first shown in theaters the following year. It is based on the novel of the same name by Benito Pérez Galdós from 1895.

action

After the priest Nazarín devoted himself to taking care of the whore Andara, who was seriously injured in a stabbing, and her lovesick friend Beatrice, the church forbids him to hold the service. Thereupon Nazarín took off the priestly robe and from then on lived as a beggar. One day he meets his two friends Andara and Beatriz again, who join him in admiration. But their devotion does not last and Nazarín is soon on his own again.
