The album produced by Philipp Palm was recorded on August 21, 1998 in the Rheinstadion in Düsseldorf . The performance came about as part of a support tour for the band Pur . With this, the song Lena , here under the title Nena , was recorded. Nena sings the song in a duet with Hartmut Engler . This recording dates from August 22, 1998 and was also made in the Rheinstadion in Düsseldorf. This track was produced by Günther Kasper. The two days are the end of an open-air tour in the summer of 1998, during which Nena and Pur played in front of a total of 400,000 people. The album contains some of Nena's greatest hits, some of them from the time of her band .
In addition to Nena, Tony Bruno and Mike Tait on guitar, Bruno Ravel on bass, Derek von Krogh on keyboards, and Van Romaine on drums took part in the live performances as musicians.
The first live album has the same title, but was released in 1995. For this reason, the album is often referred to as Nena Live '98 or Live '98 , although this title is not even mentioned on the cover.
